David Johansen wears many hats: He became a punk legend singing in the New York Dolls in the ’70s, conceived pop persona Buster Poindexter in the ’80s, and attracted a cult singing folk songs as David Johansen and the Harry Smiths. Having recently revived his Poindexter act, the Staten Island native performs tonight at a summer-solstice festival in his home borough, with proceeds benefiting the Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden.
