Ebullient clarinet wizard David Krakauer has covered a pretty broad stretch of musical turf over the years, from klezmer (served straight-up or with a twist) to Mozart, swing jazz to free improv. On his latest disc, The Big Picture, Krakauer turns his attention to movie music, arranging pieces from Jewish-themed films such as Cabaret, Avalon, The Producers and other favorites for a sextet staffed with brilliant downtown instrumentalists Jenny Scheinman, Adam Rogers, Rob Burger, Greg Cohen and Jim Black. Original films round out what looks to be a multimedia feast.
