Excellent L.A. band Dengue Fever features a bunch of indie vets playing in the style of ’60s Cambodian rock music—but it's more spooky than kitschy. The group's coup was finding singer Chhom Nimol, a native of Phnom Penh who performed for the king and queen of Cambodia before moving to California, and sings in an intense, captivating quaver. Playing under the aegis of the Season of Cambodia festival, the band shares the bill with up-and-coming Cambodian-American singer Bochan.
