Dig Deeper: Syl Johnson

Dusty-fingered record freaks Mr. Robinson and DJ Honky are back with their night devoted to vintage funk and soul. This month’s edition sees the return of Syl Johnson, the masterful soul singer and producer behind such tunes as "Come On Sock It to Me" and "Is It Because I'm Black" (and the subject of a recent box set on the Numero Group label), performing live. He'll be backed by the Sweet Divines & the Divine Soul Rhythm Band, who will be playing an early set of their own.
