In a year packed with great meat-and-potatoes death-metal albums from Exhumed, Autopsy, Cannabis Corpse and others, Disma's Towards the Megalith still stands out. Fronted by ace growler Craig Pillard (formerly of underground favorites Incantation), the New Jersey band capitalizes on oozing tempos, lumbering along in the manner of a rusty tank. Like a great garage-rock outfit, Disma reminds you why you loved its chosen genre in the first place. Also on tonight's bill are queasy-sounding Nashville doom merchants Loss.
