DJ Shadow became an instant headphone hero in 1996 with his debut album, Endtroducing…, a stone-cold hip-hop classic that set off a decade swamped with imitative efforts by less distinctive sample-slayers. The man has many impressive traits, but prolificness is not one of them: Since that debut album, he has released two albums (most recently Shadow on the Outsider, in 2006).
