Any preview of a DMX show is best prefaced with a little disclaimer: This is Dark Man X, whose well-documented battles with addiction and other demons (and, more recently, bad shrimp) have led to many missed appearances. That said, during his rise and peak in the late ’90s, the Yonkers-bred Ruff Ryders leader was one of rap’s most captivating performers—most memorably, he stole the show from an insurgent Jay-Z on Jigga’s ’99 Hard Knock Life tour.
