Don Byron New Gospel Quintet + Burnt Sugar/Danz

Lincoln Center Out of Doors. To borrow a phrase from the Art Ensemble of Chicago, tonight's showcase definitely features great black music, ancient to the future. Don Bryon takes up his sax to work soulful magic with the gospel standards of Thomas A. Dorsey, and postmodern shaman Greg Tate leads his voodoo-funk-rock improv ensemble Burnt Sugar in a collaboration with choreographer Gabri Christa's ensemble Danz.
