A contemporary of Liquid Liquid, Konk, the Bush Tetras et al., ESG is a (rightly) revered No Wave–era dance band. Led by the Bronx's Scroggins sisters, the outfit defined a sort of skeletal funk that has influenced countless bands and producers from the early ’80s through this very minute. Sadly, tonight is being billed as the combo's final Gotham performance; but with tracks like "Moody" and "UFO" to its name, ESG's place in musical history is secure. The No Wave–influenced Ava Luna also performs, with DJ Spinna spinning the between-set tunes.
