Festival of New Trumpet Music

During its tenth installment, the thriving Festival of New Trumpet Music spreads out across Manhattan, showcasing jazz, chamber music, funk and unclassifiable sounds. The offerings include Rob Mazurek's heady psych-fusion outfit São Paulo Underground and forward-thinking ensemble TILT Brass, appearing on Sept 20 and 21, respectively, at University Settlement; duo performances featuring Natsuki Tamura and Josh Deutsch at the Village Zendo on Sept 23; three bands per night at Smalls on Sept 26 and 27, including groups led by Dave Chisholm and David Weiss; and the stimulating double bill of progressive chamber group yMusic and vibrant groovers No BS!
