Fountains of Wayne + Jill Sobule

Fountains of Wayne is one of the few contemporary rock bands that write direct lyrics that tell stories, rather than reach for vague (and generally lazy) imagery. This is admirable—and frontmen Adam Schlesinger and Chris Collingwood write snappy pop fit for ’70s radio, or at least a Ben Folds album. The veteran singer-songwriter Jill Sobule opens.
