Early music is slowly gaining a foothold in this ultramodern city of ours. In three concerts this weekend, the passionate advocates of the Gotham Early Music Scene (GEMS) offer an overview. Friday night's program features viol consort Parthenia, vocal sextet Lionheart and period-string quartet the Sinfonia Players at an Upper West Side church. On Saturday, a salon-style concert and multimedia lecture at a historic Manhattan home feature Listening to History and Rebel. The final show on Sunday afternoon showcases the vocal duo TENET, the historic world-music specialists of the Alba Consort and the excellent vocal-instrumental group ARTEK at WNYC's SoHo performance space.
Fri 30, Sun 2 $25–$40; Sat 1 $35–$50; under 30 $15
