The venerable Glimmerglass Festival opens its 2012 season with an intimate new production of Verdi's Aida featuring Michelle Johnson in the title role, Noah Stewart as Radames and Daveda Karanas as Amneris. Glowing in the spotlight is this season's artist-in-residence, bass-baritone Eric Owens, as Amonasro. Opening on July 14 is everyone's favorite musical about a con man: The Music Man. Harold Hill is played by Richard Tucker Award winner Dwayne Croft, with Elizabeth Futral as the sweet Marian, madam librarian. See glimmerglass.org for details and travel information.
