High on Fire + Torche + Kylesa

One the most acclaimed metal bands of the aughts, High on Fire is also one of the heaviest. There’s nothing particularly surprising about the trio’s meat-and-potatoes doom-thrash—rendered with glorious fidelity on the recent Snakes for the Divine—but nevertheless, it remains a headbanger’s dream. Setting the stage are two hotly buzzed indie-metal outfits, each toting new records: Lightning Bolt–gone-bubblegum trio Torche (out behind Songs for Singles) and disarmingly emotive prog-sludgers Kylesa (supporting Spiral Shadow).
