Hospital Fest

Noise-scene bad boy Dominick "Prurient" Fernow—often found leather-clad and screaming his lungs out amid a howling din of feedback—presents another iteration in the annual festival by his label Hospital Records. The diverse and brilliantly curated lineup includes artists ranging between noise, contemporary classical, ambient, metal and more, all sharing a connecting thread of underground spirit and cold-blooded affect. Highlights include former Godflesh member Justin Broadrick melding atmospheric guitar and industrial-style drums as Jesu, the prepared-piano explorations of rising Warp Records composer Kelly Moran and the punishing post-punk-ish techno of Silent Servant, who headlines the late-night portion of the event.
