The avant-jazz series Snugs hosts a four-week look back at "Chicago Comes to New York," a 1977 festival at Columbia University that showcased the work of storied Windy City experimental-music collective the AACM. Each night features archival recordings from the fest, as well as interviews with participants. On Jan 9, catch percussionist Thurman Barker in conversation with Ben Young. Other installments feature Henry Threadgill and Brent Hayes Edwards (Jan 16), Steve and Iqua Colson and Patrick Jarenwattananon (Jan 23), and Amina Claudine Myers and Tyshawn Sorey (Jan 30).
