Jah Wobble and The Invaders of The Heart + Mal Devisa

Born "John Joseph Wardle" is best known as the bassist for the Sex Pistols and the band formed in the former's demise, Public Image Ltd. He turns up here with his postpunk outfit, Jah Wobble and The Invaders of the Heart, which recently released a newie, The Usual Suspects. Opening is multi-instrumentalist Mal Devisa, who works textured tunes from a pared down framework: soulful vocals soaring over loops of understated bass guitar. Her striking, direct music has garnered her quite a word-of-mouth reputation in the local indie scene as she explores resilence, displacement and isolation with a revelatory spirit.
