Free improv is only part of the equation for local experimentalist Jeremiah Cymerman. Postproduction plays just as large a role on the clarinetist's new Tzadik release, Fire Sign, which finds him chopping, processing and reassembling his collaborators' performances into glitchy, deeply ominous sound collages. What Cymerman does isn't metal, but we could see a Sunn O))) fan being mightily intrigued by his work. Rounding out his ensemble for tonight's CD-release show are trumpeter Nate Wooley, cellist Chris Hoffman, bassist Tom Blancarte and drummer Brian Chase. Noise-reared multi-instrumentalist C. Spencer Yeh (of Burning Star Core) and poetic guitarist Kevin Hufnagel (of Dysrhythmia) get things started.
