Consummately versatile saxophone ace Joe Lovano turns up with a new project, paying tribute to his 1981 visit to Lagos, Nigeria, during which he performed with Afrobeat icon Fela Kuti. Given the concept and personnel—guitarist Liberty Ellman, electric-bassist Matt Garrison, drummer Otis Brown III and kora player and percussionist Abdou Mboup—it's safe to say that funky, festive vibes are in store.
