Stopping by to headline a big summer outdoor show in the midst of a seemingly endless, transcontinental tour, adoptive East Villager Justin Townes Earle already brought it all back home on last year’s Harlem River Blues. The song cycle transposed folk and gospel traditions to New York City settings, swapping coal mines for subway tunnels and shotgun shacks for tenement halls. Bluegrass-and-beyond supergroup Punch Brothers, led by former Nickel Creek wunderkind Chris Thile, bring insane chops to traditional string music. Long-running Virginia ensemble and Modest Mouse pals the Hackensaw Boys round out the bill with their punk-inspired bluegrass rambles.
