La Traviata

The New York City Opera trades in offstage drama for onstage tragedy with its first production of the season, a subtle and effective new staging of Verdi's romantic tearjerker by Jonathan Miller, originally a Glimmerglass/Vancouver Opera coproduction. Brooklyn native Laquita Mitchell stars as Violetta, with rising tenor David Pomeroy as her dutiful lover Alfredo. Steven White conducts.
