Pianist Anthony de Mare has enlisted 17 composers to spin their own versions of some of Stephen Sondheim's legendary musical theater tunes in this recital, part of the pianist's inventive Liaisons Project. Composers include Mason Bates, Derek Bermel, William Bolcom, Kenji Bunch, Gabriel Kahane, Ricky Ian Gordon, Fred Hersch and Steve Reich, plus many others. Sondheim himself will make an appearance during an on-stage interview with Mark Eden Horowitz, author of Sondheim on Music.
