Little Black Egg Band Big Band + Oren Ambarchi

The next local Yo La Tengo show isn’t until October, when the local indie-rock heroes come through town in support of a new covers-heavy record, Stuff Like That There, but this gig should help to tide over the group’s many rabid devotees. Led by YLT drummer Georgia Hubley, Little Black Egg Big Band features not only her bandmates Ira Kaplan and James McNew but also a who’s who of local avant-rock/-jazz talents, including bassist Tony Maimone, drummer Susie Ibarra, multi-instrumentalist Daniel Carter and trumpeter Taylor Ho Bynum. Expect a heady, improv-heavy set. Opening is Aussie guitar maverick Oren Ambarchi, known for his collaborations with Sunn O))) and his own uncategorizable soundscapes.
