Presented by Africanismo, a project that specializes in lesser-known strains of diasporic music, Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto specialize in Colombian gaita, a hypnotically percussive style perfected by natives of the country's war-torn Caribbean region. Influenced by African and American Indian sources, and influential in turn on cumbia, the genre has experienced a recent resurgence fueled in large part by this Latin Grammy–winning combo.
