Northside Festival. Matteah Baim's new-folk shares a mood with Devendra Banhart's early, more tripped-out stuff. Though she is a former member of the quirky Metallic Falcons (with CocoRosie's Sierra Casady), Baim's solo work shuns superfluous weirdness in favor of elegantly eerie psych textures. Frankie and the Outs features badass musician Frankie Rose, who played for a pantheon of lo-fi influencers (Vivian Girls, Crystal Stilts, Dum Dum Girls).
