The forward-thinking percussion collective landed in the spotlight with a super-tight performance of Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians in 2009 and more recently recorded Aaron Spiegel's delightfully hypnotic glockenspiel octet Science Is Only a Sometimes Friend. Tonight, the drummers continue to blow minds with afree preview performance of the group's newest commission, Michael Gordon's Timber. Thehour-long sonic kaleidoscope is scored for six two-by-fours wired to Macs and won't have its official U.S. premiere until the fall.
