Fresh-faced young Brazilian singer-songwriter Maria Gadú has a phenomenally pretty voice—silky smooth with a hint of breathiness that suggests Lauryn Hill—and though she sings in her native tongue over acoustic plucks, the effect is straight soul music. Having opened for Joss Stone in Rio last year, she'll be playing from her self-titled debut album tonight. Expect fine things.
