No, it's not a showcase for people playing actual melodicas—rather an international festival in support of blossoming, local musical talent, held in cities as far-flung as Melbourne, Reykjavik and Berlin. It's only right and proper, then, that the New York edition happens at antifolk staple the Sidewalk Café. Saturday's highlights include excellent bluegrass combo Free Advice, twangy young folk-rocker Anthony da Costa, and the mellow sounds of the Lost Shores. Sunday's performances coincide with the cafe's weekly "Blackout" evening, so enjoy power-free shows from the likes of Danish songman Bjorn Giesenbauer, and Lorraine Leckie and Her Demons.
