Contemporary-music trailblazers Metropolis Ensemble celebrate song with an evening of world-premiere vocal works, beginning with David Babin's Why Birds, a pocket opera performed with his band BabX that tells the story of inventor Nikola Tesla. They'll also take on up-and-coming composer Mohammed Fairouz's Audenesque, a song cycle for mezzo-soprano and chamber orchestra featuring singer Kate Lindsey, as well as a remixed version of the Berlioz's Les nuits d’été by composers Vivian Fung, Ryan Francis and Brad Balliett, with soprano Kiera Duffy on vocals.
