Michael Blake is a brash saxophonist who pens compositions that veer sinuously from straight-ahead jazz to the more off-kilter variety, with meaningful perambulations through Vietnamese and African styles. Here he and his band survey another tradition, more localized but equally rich—the brilliantly cosmopolitan works of Blake's former Lounge Lizards bandmate John Lurie—in the company of pianist Landon Knoblock, bassist Michael Bates, drummer Greg Ritchie and guitarist Ryan Blotnick.
