Mostly Other People Do the Killing

Bassist Moppa Elliott's explosive freebop quartet, Mostly Other People Do the Killing, locates the humor inherent in jazz without forsaking its first principles of groove and soul. Rounding out the band are pianist Ron Stabinsky, saxist Jon Irabagon and drummer Kevin Shea, three virtuosos who love to play rough. Tonight the group responsible for a note-for-note re-creation of Miles Davis's Kind of Blue celebrates its latest release, Mauch Chunk, a collection of original Elliott compositions.
