English-Moroccan vocalist Natacha Atlas is the kind of singular performer for whom the onerous label "world music" was coined: No more-specific tag could possibly encompass a performer who started her career as a belly dancer and salsa singer, and went on to blaze trails with a unique mix of traditional Arabic styles, electronica, dance-pop and even hip-hop.
