Natacha Atlas is the kind of singular performer for whom the onerous label world music was coined: No more specific tag could possibly encompass a performer who started her career as a belly dancer and salsa singer, and went on to blaze trails with a unique mix of traditional Arabic styles, electronica, dance-pop and even hip-hop. Celebrating the release of a new CD, Mounqaliba, she shares the bill with vibrant local Arabic singer Gaida.
