Newish Jewish Music Festival: John Zorn

It seems altogether proper in this day and age that any new festival of maverick Jewish-music artists should open with a big gesture from John Zorn, whose concert programs and Tzadik record label made the term radical Jewish culture common parlance. Fittingly, Zorn goes big tonight with the premiere of Masada Book Three: The Book Beriah, a new set of tunes from a burgeoning catalog, played here by an all-star lineup of artists in a marathon performance.
