It’s hard to draw a bead on Nikki Yanofsky, a highly touted young Canadian singer who’s being groomed to make Ella Fitzgerald’s legacy appealing to tweens. One minute she’s swinging with a confidence beyond her years; the next, she’s crooning over bombastic orchestrations that fit a PBS pledge-drive definition of uplift. Presumably she’ll be leaning on the former style here, and you'll seldom see her in a room so intimate.
