Acerbic crew Nine of Swords makes post-hardcore without ever swinging too far "post" from the genre's punishingly severe origins. It does, however, (thankfully) stray far from hardcore's typical bitter sad-boy omphaloskepsis. Wavering between gutteral screams and free-form talk-singing, Rachel Gordon shouts declarations of personal resilience and political dissent. Here the group heads up a bill of queer hardcore bands.
