Jangly, swaggering locals Nude Beach stand way out from the garage-pop pack, thanks to a heavy dose of breathless Dylan-via-Springsteen attitude. As you can hear on the new II—pick it up at tonight's record-release gig— this trio really inhabits its chosen style, rather than just trying it on like a dollar-store costume. Also on the bill are Swearin’, a local quartet driven by the uncommon poise of co-vocalist Allison Crutchfield, whose delivery suggests a riot-grrrl take on the Guided by Voices oeuvre.
