O'Death + Tim Fite + The Goddamn Rattlesnake

We admire O'Death's indefatigable pluck, but the band's shtick—a raucous goth-hillbilly pastiche, pitched somewhere between Tom Waits and Man Man—can be tough to stomach. Brooklyn rapper and singer Tim Fite reminds us a bit of early Beck, the way he recycles junk-bin samples into clever songs. His music provides both marvelously weird stylistic clashes and funny send-ups of commercial rap, including the great recent album Under the Table Tennis.
