Paul Motian: Tribute to the MJQ

A most unexpected delight, this: Just a few weeks ago, Steve Nelson's scintillating vibraphone was at center stage for a Jazz at Lincoln Center tribute to the Modern Jazz Quartet, that quietly dazzling foursome that blended Baroque and blues impulses so eloquently. Nelson's pulling similar duty tonight, egged on by maverick drummer Paul Motian; pianist Craig Taborn and bassist Thomas Morgan round out an extremely promising lineup.
