Children of the ’80s know Peter Case as the leader of the Plimsouls, a band most famous for the semihit "A Million Miles Away" and a cameo in the movie Valley Girl. Case has since added blogger and memoirist to his résumé. But his recent work proves his ability to create sweet, raggle-taggle melodies is as sharp as ever. With his Biggish Band, opener JC Hopkins has backed up Norah Jones and Madeleine Peyroux and has a decidedly burlesquey bent; here, he plays with bluesy singer Mamie Minch.
