While on tour in Europe last month, conductor Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic gave the first performances of a new one-act opera by avant-garde composer Peter Eötvös. Now that they're back home, we get to hear it. Any piece by this major experimental voice is an event unto itself—though these concerts also feature Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony.
