Alternate takes, limited represses and colored seven-inches… Yes, the eighth annual celebration of independent brick-and-mortar music shops hits NYC this Saturday, April 19. Participating will be vinyl slingers across the city, including Turntable Lab, Other Music, Bleecker Street Records and Rough Trade, whose all-day blowout will feature sets from Hospitality, Perfect Pussy, Betty Who and many more. Singer-songwriter Steve Gunn, formerly of Kurt Vile and the Violators, plays selections of his bluesy guitar rep, while a crop of local DJs rounds out the lineup. Noon–8pm.

The Crate

Wrecords by Monkey, the folks behind the Gowanus Whole Foods’ record section, opens its own store today. In addition to the requisite DJs, the inaugural bash promises $1 LPs and free PBR. noon–9pm.

HHR is, simply put, the best-priced, least-picked-over used-LP store in New York City—racks are stuffed with vinyl both obscure and classic. While it won't have any official RSD releases, the store will have a record maker pressing custom seven-inches on site. Noon–8pm.

This downtown standby is hosting an eclectic all-day bash, featuring in-store performers in a number of genres: catch local art-punk faves Pop. 1280, avant-jazz saxist extraordinaire Matana Roberts, DIY improv songsmith Lonnie Holley and noise-scene luminary Pete Swanson. 10am—8pm.
