Cellist Darrett Adkins guest-stars on this episode of violinist Gil Morgenstern's worldly chamber-music series. The program, titled "A Trio of Duos," highlights three 20th-century pieces that were critical in establishing an equitable relationship between the violin and the cello, including Kodály's expansive Duo for Violin and Violoncello and Ravel's Sonate pour Violon et Violoncelle—both recorded by this pair on an excellent 2008 disc from Engine Company Records—as well as a titillating arrangement of Handel’s Passacaglia by Norwegian violinist Johan Halvorsen.
