Time Out says

Boisterous trombonist Roswell Rudd has long pursued artistic freedom wherever his slippery horn has led him, from Dixieland groups to his Monk-inspired combo with the late Steve Lacy, and onward to encounters with Archie Shepp and Sonic Youth. This matinee gig celebrates both Rudd's recent 78th birthday and his new album, Trombone for Lovers, a charming set of pop, jazz and blues classics ranging from "Here, There and Everywhere" to "Green Onions" and "Autumn Leaves." As on the disc, there will be special guests galore—including Steven Bernstein, Bob Dorough and John Medeski—and all proceeds benefit Rudd, who's currently undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.
