Think of Colin Stetson as a nonsinging singer-songwriter. His command of circular breathing and multiphonics will prick up the ears of any experimental-improv buff, but Stetson’s real coup is the alchemical way he channels these raw materials into fully outfitted tunes—the kind that loop in your head involuntarily. Hear for yourself on Stetson's new one, New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges, guest-starring February's Stone cocurator Laurie Anderson. (We're not promising an Anderson guest appearance, but it sure wouldn't shock us.) Stetson plays at 8pm, followed by a 10pm set from genres-be-damned improvisers Ryan Sawyer and Shahzad Ismaily.
