Samir Chatterjee: Tablaphilia

Another event meant to inaugurate the Met Museum's New Galleries for the Art of the Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia and Later South Asia, this evening's concert offers the inimitable spectacle of a 70-minute symphony by Samir Chatterjee for the resonant Indian hand-drums called tabla, played by a 22-member ensemble and augmented with four vocalists.
