Sarah Kirkland Snider, a gifted young composer and cofounder of the vital New Amsterdam Label, celebrates the CD release of Penelope, a lush, evocative and deeply moving theatrical song cycle based on a nameless woman nursing her war-traumatized former husband back to stability by reading to him from Homer's Odyssey. Shara Worden, known in alt-pop circles for her work as My Brightest Diamond, performs the work with the versatile chamber group yMusic, which also plays pieces by Son Lux, Annie Clark, Judd Greenstein and Gabriel Kahane.
