Local faves Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings have surreptitiously cleared a path for many proudly retro acts. But unlike those diligent young musicians, Jones and her collaborators make songs that do more than bring the genre to the iPod-wearing masses; like the soul heroes of four decades ago, they remind us how hard life once was, while finding out how good it can be.
