Skirl, a homegrown Brooklyn avant-jazz label headed by reedist-composer Chris Speed, presents a festive quintuple bill. You'll hear Speed both as part of the aptly named trio the Clarinets and in a duo with Bad Plus drummer Dave King, a quartet led by trumpeter Ben Holmes (featured on a forthcoming Skirl release, Anvil of the Lord), a contemporary-classical-oriented solo set by clarinetist Anthony Burr, and saxist Briggan Krauss's H-Alpha trio with Ikue Mori on electronics and Jim Black on drums.
