Time Out says

Over the past decade, a new generation of composers and performers has arisen, refusing to submit to genre boundaries or dusty ideological battles, jacking up the cool quotient on New York's new-music scene. The SONiC Festival, which stands for Sounds of a New Century and is the brainchild of cutting-edge composer Derek Bermel and pianist Stephen Gosling, aims to immerse audiences in this new paradigm. Over the course of nine days, 16 exciting new-music ensembles—including eighth blackbird, Alarm Will Sound, ICE, Either/Or, JACK Quartet, American Composers Orchestra and Klang—perform works by more than100 composers under 40. For the most bang for your buck, hit up the 12-hour marathon at Miller Theatre on Sun 16, ICE's gigs at the Kitchen on Thu 20 and Fri 21, or the free ACO concert at the Winter Garden on Sat 22. You can also purchase a SONiC pass to get a 20 percent discount on all concerts. You can find the complete schedule of concerts and venues at sonicfestival.org.
